The silence can be the sweetest thing. To listen and actually hear the world pulse around you is a blessing. It is in these moments that you can hear the peace of our own mind, the beat of our hearts and the space in between.
I find this silence from time to time in my life. The first time I remember the absolute stillness besides the whipping wind was in South Dakota, in the Black Hills. I stood atop a rock formation known as Little Devils Tower and I looked out over the world below. I could see forever the horizon only seemed to bend, never end. My mind went blank and the only thing I could do was be in awe of the silence that I stood in. No one was there, the world just sang a wind song and I was a part of it. I stood in my gratitude surveyed the world below and knew I was meant to explore. I have spent much of my time traveling since then, looking for the same thing and finding it in random places.
The moments of silence are few in an overly stimulated world, we think that we have to respond immediately but sometimes we can take a moment. Take a moment this week and listen to the silence, even if it is not quite…take a moment and just be.

this has been your daily zen.
